Based in Irvine, California, BioShaft Water Technology owns the HANS BIOSHAFT® SYSTEM patent world wide. The company designs and manufactures domestic wastewater (Sewage) treatment plants using the HANS BIOSHAFT® SYSTEM patent. Within the heart of our system is the BioShaft Reactor. It works by emulating and accelerating a natural process found in rivers.

We are an industry leader in low sludge (inert biomass) yields, because of our patented attached growth process. The system’s fixed film process results in the virtual elimination of sludge and the associated sludge components found in conventional activated sludge waste water treatment systems (i.e. sludge collection, drying beds and disposal). Considered as new technology, our "keep it simple" yet innovative and evolutionary wastewater system has been internationally proven to be both a low-cost and highly efficient means for the treatment of domestic wastewater ( Sewage).

For the last 7 years, the HANS BIOSHAFT ® SYSTEM has been recognized by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as contributing significantly to sustainable development in the Middle East, with the majority of the 30 plus operational plants funded via USAID programs. USAID continues to prescribe theHANS BIOSHAFT ® SYSTEM technology for new wastewater projects in that part of the world and, logistics permitting, has identified it as a preferred technology in other regions.
