Technology
Over the last 50 years there has not been any significant
change in wastewater treatment methods. A major byproduct
of today’s widely utilized conventional wastewater
treatment methods is sludge. There are many ways to dispose
of sludge however these methods get quite expensive and
time consuming. The patented BioShaft system's attached
growth process results in the virtual elimination of sludge.
This means no extensive sludge equipment to purchase or
maintain. The BioShaft has many other unique benefits over
conventional wastewater treatment as well.
Sewage Treatment
Sewage treatment consists of 3 phases. Primary, Secondary,
and Tertiary phases. The innovative BioShaft patent revolutionizes
how the secondary treatment is acheived.
1.
Primary Treatment In primary treatment, sand, grit,
and the larger solids in the wastewater are easily collected
and separated from the liquid. Primary treatment removes
the materials that can be easily collected and disposed
of.
2. Secondary Secondary treatment is designed
to substantially degrade the biological content of the sewage
such as are derived from human waste, food waste, soaps
and detergent. Traditional secondary treatment is done through
extended aeration treatment or using Membrane technologies.
However these technologies result in a list of issues that
translate into higher cost. The superiority of BioShaft
to traditional sewage treatment is most apparent in this
phase.
3. Tertiary Treatment Phase Allows the
effluent to be disinfected before it is discharged to the
environment.
